'THIS EVENT WILL SERVE AS A STARTING POINT TO A SERIES OF DEBATES, CULMINATING WITH THE 5TH EUROPEAN INNOVATION SUMMIT.'
At a time of unprecedented challenges, Europe’s competitiveness and standard of living are threatened. However, with the right policy instruments and a comprehensive innovation framework, these predictions can be avoidable. This dinner debate aimed to deliver a Wakeup Call to European policy-makers, highlight the main problems regarding the future of innovation in Europe and draw up proposals for immediate actions. Friedhelm Schmider, Director General, ECPA, Gernot Klotz, Executive Director, Research and Innovation, Cefic as well as a number of MEPs Jerzy Buzek, Lambert van Nistelrooij, and Maria Da Graça Carvalho were among the distinguished speakers.
Issues as like the main regulatory barriers impeding Innovation, ensuring a growing European economy in the years to come, prerequisites for developing a new innovation model in which people are at the heart of innovation and how Europe can regain its lost global political and economic significance and compete with emerging economies were high on the agenda.
