Taking place on Tuesday March 18th at the European Parliament in Brussels, this debate is co-organised by EURIPIDES ², the EUREKA Cluster dedicated to the integration of electronic systems in aerospace, automotive, energy, etc. Partners involved in COWIN, an initiative of the European Commission in which EURIPIDES takes part, will share best practices to bridge the gap between research and market, generating economic value for the benefit of SMEs and the European industry in general. The COWIN initiative was launched during the preparation phase of the Horizon 2020 proposal by European Commission’s DG CONNECT and is dedicated to encourage the commercial exploitation of the results of research projects initiated under the Framework Programmes 6 and 7.
This coordination and support action is considered as a model for different activities to be launched as part of Horizon 2020 and which will be dedicated to the commercialisation of innovation. With the support of EURIPIDES², COWIN has now obtained concrete results by successfully supporting the launch and growth of 20 start-up companies exploiting collaborative research results, engaging more than 25 private investors to support new ventures in the field of smart electronic systems.
During this breakfast session, COWIN and EURIPIDES ² will share their experience of the smart systems and ICT hardware sector and explain how it can be applied and be used in other areas and at a European scale. The debate will gather innovation stakeholders and will address what can be done to further develop the COWIN approach towards a truly sustainable model for exploitation of research results to the benefit of SMEs in Europe.
