The TAFTIE Conference 'National agencies at the break of a new model for innovation support in the EU' – took place in Lisbon at the Representation of the EC in Portugal on 25 January 2018.
The event's main focus was on finding better ways of providing support to innovative companies, during the RTD phase but also on the scaling-up of innovation into market, especially international markets: how to better align evaluation practices and timings, how to reduce bureaucracy and red tape.
Organised by the Portuguese Innovation Agency (ANI), it counted with many international speakers. EUREKA had a strong presence with Matti Hiltunen representing the Finnish EUREKA Chair and Zeynep Sarilar the EUREKA Clusters. Other EUREKA National Funding Bodies from UK, Israel and France were also present, and EUREKA's innovation hero Oscar Chabrera took part in the panel 'Support to innovators: scaling-up innovations into market'.
The European Commission took part in the discussions, represented by Nicolas Sabatier, and revealed some details about the future European Innovation Council, especially on the future SME support instruments and the new Co-fund concept together with National Funding Bodies.
