EUREKA MEMBER > Croatia

 

The Republic of Croatia has been involved in EUREKA as full member as of June 2000. In February 2009 The Ministry of Science, Education and Sports of the Republic of Croatia transferred operative implementation of EUREKA program to Business Innovation Centre of Croatia –BICRO. With this act BICRO became the National EUREKA Office for Croatia. According to the Agreement with the Ministry from 2010, BICRO has become responsible body for the whole implementation including financial management and contracting.

The Business Innovation Center of Croatia – BICRO was founded by the Croatian Government in 1998, in order to implement technology development and innovation support programs. It is a central institution in the national innovation system for supporting innovation and technology advancement.

BICRO's main objectives are the following:

  • Increasing commercialization of knowledge
  • Raising awareness about the value of innovation
  • Establishment of knowledge- and technology-based companies
  • Transfer of knowledge and technology solutions from science to business
  • Development of adequate technology infrastructure
  • Creation and development of venture capital industry
  • Strengthening cooperation between the scientific and business community
