date of publication > 06-July-2012

On 9 July 2012, European Commissioner for Research, Innovation and Science Máire Geoghegan-Quinn will announce the final and biggest work programme of the Seventh Framework Programme for research and development (FP7). The work programme will invest 8 billion euro in Europe's research and innovation system aiming at increasing European competitiveness. The call for projects will focus on the main fields of research and innovation where action at EU level is essential to address common challenges.

Eurostars is an integral part of FP7 and the implementation of the final work programme will coincide with the final call of projects of the preferred funding instrument of European R&D SMEs. The last cut-off date has been scheduled for the 4 April 2013.

Eurostars will continue under a revised frame in Horizon2020, the successor of FP7. The Budapest document on Eurostars 2.0 has been endorsed last month by Ministers and government officials representing the 41 members of EUREKA.
