Improving of refurbishing process of chilenter and revertia.

The project aims to improve the refurbishing processes through technology, automatization and standardization of operations as well as integrating the environmental indicators that allows to communicate the benefits of refurbished products.

The project consist in the improving of refurbishing operations of Revertia and Chilenter through technology integration and the adding of value through analysis and communication of refurbished products environmental benefits. The project is divided in two parts: 1. Integration of environmental benefits in the refurbished products of Chilenter. One of the most distinguishable elements of Revertia is the integration of environmental indicator that allows to communicate to customers the environmental benefits and savings involved in the product chain. Methodology and tools to get this indicators has been developed through the Life+EcoRAEE initiative together with Vigo University and EnergyLab. This project has been identified as a global referent in the Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) in the waste area. With the aid of Revertia, Chilenter aim to integrate this indicators in its processes with the objective of adding value to refurbished products and recycling processes. The project contemplates to carry out an inventory study of the wastes management, recycling and refurbishing in Chilenter and analyse the data with SIMAPRO computational tool and Revertia advisory. The product of this part is an environmental seal that will be in all the products of Chilenter and a diffusion campaign that communicates the quantitative data that illustrates the environmental benefits of Chilenter’s products and services. As an organization with a high commitment with the environment and the responsible management of the e-waste, Chilenter will integrate this indicators as a key factor in the strategic development plan just like the economic factors. 2. Improving of refurbishing processes in Chilenter and Revertia. Unlike the recycling processes, the state of the art of the refurbishing operations is characterized by the use of manual labor and a lack of automatization. This defines a low range of equipment that can effectively be refurbished and generates a low rentability in the refurbishing products that ultimately limit the growth of a refurbishing market. In this context, the project aims to improve the refurbishing processes through technology tools like: - Softwares that helps to analyse and define the refurbishing potential of computers and other equipment - Devices and hardwares that facilitate the identification of valuable equipment - Methodologies that optimize the use of human and technological resources The project contemplates a study of the potential improvements identified in the processes, a investigation of comparative technologies in similar industries and the develop of a technologic plan for both organization. The product of this part is a systems that allows to recept new equipment and/or to increase the efficiency of refurbishing processes and the rentability of refurbished products. The modularity of the system will enable to apply it to expand the refurbishing services in Chile and Spain and to boost other new business models. The application of new technology and methodologies will be analyzed with the LCA tools developed in the first part of the project. In adition Chilenter´s goal is to create a spin-off and expands its business, building a direct sale of refurbished computers
