Biological module platform for water recycling

Develop a water purification/recycling platform which will
make it possible to purify water directly from the source
of pollution so it will be possible to scale/modify/trim
the purification system for use in a wide range of sectors.

The primary aim of the B-WARE project is to develop a water purification and recycling Platform which will make it possible to scale, modify and trim the water purification system for use within a wide range of sectors - directly from the source of pollution. During the B-WARE project the system will be developed to handle waste water from laundries and water in swimming pools. A large amount of water is used in laundries and initial tests have shown that it is possible to re-use about 90% of the water consumption. More and more people have allergic reactions when they come into contact with the purification elements which are added to the water in swimming pools. The B-WARE project will make it possible to avoid adding chloride, bromide, etc. but only use clean water in swimming pools. Feasibility Phase: The work in this phase will concentrate upon the analysis of user requirements with special attention to the selected target areas (laundries and swimming pools). Other targets such as car wash areas and the fish industry will also be analysed during this phase. Initial work related to the exploitation perspectives will be performed. This work will include an initial survey of sales and distribution channels. The complete work from this phase will be documented in the User Requirements Analysis Report. Definition Phase: Based upon the information derived from the Feasibility Phase, the definition and specification of what and how the project elements are going to be implemented will be performed. The results from this phase will be documented in the Design Report. Research and Development Phase: During this phase the overall R & D work related to the 4 major B-WARE components will be performed. The R & D work will be performed in four major work areas: - the different modules the Treatment Plant will consist of will be developed and combined - with regard to the target areas - more sophisticated and versatile cultures of bacteria will be developed - small and low cost sensors will be developed and these will be integrated with the developed Flow Control System - development of a knowledge-based system which will make the purification Platform easy to update. Implementation and Exploitation Phase: Activities related to the integration, testing and demonstration of the products as well as the exploitation of the products including product design, identification of sales channels, etc. will be performed during this phase. The project has been organised with a User Panel consisting of end-user organisations covering two selected sectors and with a Technical Group. The User Panel will have the role of organising and performing the work related to the first work package in the feasibility phase. The User Panel will include all relevant information in their work i.e. including other user organisations from the health care sector and different market segments. The participating user organisations will provide realistic testbeds for the final tests in which they will actively participate. Furthermore, the User Panel will participate in both the initial exploitation and the full exploitation phases. The Technical Group will perform the analysis, design and development phases as well as the exploitation phases (in cooperation with the User Panel).
