The main goal of the Museum Online Catalogue (MOC) project is to provide internet-based access to information on museum objects. A further goal is to improve the functionality, usability and accessibility of museum collection information, to stimulate creativity and strengthen digital skills of museum research workers, to enhance education and training activities and to widen and deepen relationships between museums in Baltic States (LITHUANIA, LATVIA, ESTONIA).
Project implementation will ensure that the basic information accumulated in the NATIONAL HOLDINGS OF MUSEUMS OF BALTIC STATES is freely, easily and quickly available to every individual in Europe and throughout the world.
The MOC project will prepare the metadata, classification standards and standardized terminology for the implementation of a centralized on-line access to museum object information among Baltic States as well as to allow integration with databases in related fields (libraries, archives) and international databases on cultural history.
This project is related to the eContent Programme, which supports the development of European cultural multimedia contents for the Internet, and the e-Learning Action Plan, which coordinates the European Union activities related to education in the digital age.
