Pulse synergic inverter welding machine

Development of a welding machine using the combined knowledge of two complementary partners: one developing control mechanisms and with extensive knowledge of welding arcs; the other producing current sources.

In the welding industry, there has been a major step forward in terms of technological advances in recent years. Welding machines of the past, consisting mainly of simple electronic circuits, are being replaced by a new generation of devices with integrated circuits and complex computer algorithms controlling welding process. Most of the price of the old machines is hidden in the price of the raw material of its components, such as copper, aluminium and steel. The price of these materials is currently rising and expected to continue to do so. On the other hand, the price of the microprocessors and transistors, which constitute the newer machines, is falling. In this situation, producers of welding machines are forced to make a transition into production of the machines of the new generation. However the complexity and development cost is very high with the new welding machine designs. It is possible to talk about two main parts of a modern welding device. One is the power source, which must be able to provide the correct and exact amount of current at any given moment. The other is the controller part, which must control the power source to meet the strict demands for any given welding process and situation. Since both of the main spheres of research are demanding and developing rapidly, ISKRA VARJENJE D.O.O. as a producer of classic welding machines has already started the studies of microprocessor arc control. In doing so, a lot of knowledge about welding process has been acquired and a line of machines equipped with the state-of-the-art controller PCBs (Printed Circuit Boards) and software has been developed. These modules have already been produced and are able to control any kind of welding process and any kind of welding power source. This research has placed ISKRA VARJENJE among the producers able to provide the majority of the most demanding welding processes, and given it the ability to create some unique metal transfer techniques, which are very suitable for some of the most challenging welding problems. To gain similar know-how in the design and production of welding sources, we teamed up with the Italian company RE ELETTRONICA. RE ELETTRONICA is a producer of electronic equipment, and is also producing modern inverting power sources for different industries, but not for welding. The idea of the cooperation is to combine the knowledge of both companies and start producing a line of the most modern synergic pulse welding machines. This project is actually the first stage of this cooperation. During its time span, technologies of both companies are to be evaluated and adapted for connection with the other part. Connectors and interfaces will be defined and the 2 prototype synergic pulse MIG/MAG (Metal Inert Gas/Metal Argon Gas) machines will be produced. These prototypes are planned to be directly transferred to serial production and also be the basis for a complete line of new machines. In the steps following this project, the resulting knowledge is planned to be gradually implemented in every machine ISKRA VARJENJE produces.
