EUREKA is a long-established European network, present in 39 countries. It is committed to improving the competitiveness of Europe through the support it offers to organisations – mostly businesses, which perform close-to-market R&D.
 
Initial studies suggest the strong leverage effect of EUREKA projects: one million of public euro invested in a EUREKA project generates on average 2.5 million from private sources.
 
Public authorities are the financial backbone of EUREKA: they provide the funding necessary to make a project idea a reality. They are also the decision-makers who drive national research policy.
