Estonia joined the EUREKA network in 2001. The tasks and responsibilities of both the Estonian EUREKA office and the funding agency are carried out by Enterprise Estonia (EAS). EAS is a state-owned funding institution that aims to make Estonia more competitive in the global economy.
Prior to 2008, the number of Estonian enterprises participating in EUREKA projects had been small, due to a lack of public funding. However since then, the funding situation has changed for the better.
EUREKA (potential) project partners are consulted and projects are evaluated and funded according to common R&D national funding rules.
