Romania started participating in the EUREKA initiative as an associated country, in 1991.
On 19 June 1997, at the EUREKA Ministerial Conference in London, Romania became a EUREKA member country. The Ministry of Science and Technology was mandated by the Romanian Government as coordinator at the national level to represent the Romanian interests in the EUREKA initiative.
The EUREKA Romanian office is hosted by the National Authority for Scientific Research (ANCS), under the coordination of the Ministry of Education, Research and Innovation. The Romanian office provides consulting, networking and information services.
Financing of the EUREKA projects is assured by the ANCS through its funding agency, the Managerial Agency for Scientific Research, Innovation and Technological Transfer-AMCSIT Politehnica.
