FUNDING SCHEME

Funding in Switzerland

The main funding agency is the Commission for Technology and Innovation (CTI) which has an annual budget of around CHF 100 million. CTI provides funding to market-oriented R&D projects with at least 1 company and 1 public R&D institution working together to develop products and services. Grants are awarded to the public R&D institution. The company benefits from exploitation of the project results.

General procedures

Bottom-up scheme: any topics are open at any time. The evaluation is conducted at national level by CTI experts. A preliminary evaluation, based on the EUREKA application form, is recommended. The evaluation lasts 1 month from submission to final result. Ten evaluation dates per year are available for each of the 4 main sectors: (a) engineering, (b) enabling sciences, (c) life sciences, (d) micro- nanotechnologies.

Restrictions

Companies get no grants. Funding is provided to market-oriented R&D projects with at least 1 company and 1 public R&D institution working together to develop products and services.
