This year, the 25th EBN Congress, entitled "Design for Innovation", will explore how design-driven, non-technological innovation is a route to competitiveness and how EU|BICs can apply design thinking methods to supporting innovative startups.

Technology-driven innovation has been a fundamental contributor to the prosperity of Europe.
Recently it has become clear that design-driven, non-technological innovation is also a route to competitiveness.
Design thinking, which encompasses many of the techniques used when advising new innovative startups, can be applied not only to new products, but to policy making, startup support services, social innovation and business development.

In this context, the EBN Congress intend to be a strong support to design-driven innovation across Europe and the Action Plan for Design-Driven Innovation, as well as to contribute to achieve the following Commission aims:

  • increase the use of design for innovation and growth across Europe
  • raise awareness of how design-driven innovation increases efficiency in public services and drives business growth;
  • create capacity and competencies to deliver these policies.

In addition to the EUREKA stand available for information, Dr Pedro Sampaio Nunes, Head of EUREKA Secretariat, will take part into the "Industry 4.0 / New European Manufacturing" plenary session on Friday 30th September 2016 from 09:30 to 11:00.
