EUREKA a steady partner in EU-Korea high-level industrial policy dialogue

On 17 September, European and Korean representatives met in Brussels for the launch of a platform for industrial policy dialogue between the EU and Korea. The objective of the ongoing dialogue is to contribute to strengthening the relationship between the EU and Korea, notably for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs).

In effect to the Republic of Korea’s participation in the  joint EU-EUREKA Eurostars programme, EUREKA representatives were also invited to take part in some of the discussions. Since 2014, the Republic of Korea is associated to Eurostars, a funding programme specially designed for R&D- intensive SMEs. To promote the competitiveness of SMEs in Europe and Korea through internationalisation is one of the main objectives of the newly launched dialogue.

The organisation representing Korea in the EUREKA Network is the Korean Institute for the Advancement of Technology (KIAT). EUREKA plays a vital role in the international innovation policies of the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE). Ever since joining the EUREKA Network in 2009, Korea has been very active in promoting the initiative through KOREA EUREKADAY that has become a flagship annual event, domestic workshop s and seminars, etc., all of which contributed to an enhanced cooperation between technological innovators from Korea and Europe.
