ITEA magazine Turkey focus: from fringe to forefront

ICT has been determined as one of the priority areas in Turkey with strong R&D&I capacity within the National Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy (UBTYS) 2011-2016. The figures are impressive: 21.7 billion euros revenues in the ICT sector (12.1% increase in 2014), total software exports over 400 million euros and total ICT government funding amounted to 1.1 billion euros. And with the ICT workforce increasing from 227,000 in 2014 to 248,000 in 2015, Mete Karaca, Scientific Programmes expert at TÜBİTAK, sees the new generation of young people willing to work in the ICT sector in Turkey as a key ingredient.

Apart from the country focus on Turkey, the October 2016 issue of the ITEA magazine presents latest ITEA success stories as well as a report on the 1st ITEA masterclass dedicated to digital transformation.
