EURIPIDES² is set to replace EURIPIDES, the EUREKA cluster for the integration of electronics in everyday life products, in a little bit more than a week. It will officially become on July 1st EUREKA’s new cluster for ICT specialised in intelligent and professional electronic systems. EURIPIDES² will replace the previous structure with a similar set of members to support and develop innovative projects in this field, using as a basis the already established reputation of the EURIPIDES network in Europe.
For a period spanning 2013 to 2020, EURIPIDES²‘s mission will be to establish more collaboration in R&D processes, accompanying research projects throughout their development by providing partnerships, helping them accessing public funds, following their administrative procedures and getting technologies ready for commercialisation. More specifically EURIPIDES² has announced a new strategy which includes further integrating SMEs in the European innovation economy and strengthening the European market for Smart Electronic Systems.
EUREKA and its members are well aware of the importance of EURIPIDES sectors for Europe and have reaffirmed their support in Ankara this week. EURIPIDES² has been given an increase of 50% to its budget enabling the cluster to reach its objectives until 2020. According to EUREKA’s estimations EURIPIDES²’s programme could help create 700 000 jobs in the European electronic industry.
The EURIPIDES² Autumn call for projects is already open: projects must be submitted before the September 24, 2013.
