Danish funding body, Innovation Fund Denmark (IFD), funds R&D costs for SMEs participating in our Eurostars programme.  

For SMEs, IFD covers up to 75% of industrial research project costs in grants OR up to 50% of experimental project costs in grants. This amount covers actual costs and a maximum salary of 1,000 Danish krone per hour.   

The maximum funding amount is a grant of 300,000 euro per project OR a grant of 500,000 euro for projects with more than one Danish participant.

Alternative funding  

Danish SMEs can choose to be funded according to the European Commission’s de minimis regulation, where IFD covers a maximum of 200,000 euro per SME over a three-year period.  

Danish SMEs could receive up to 60% of project costs for industrial research projects OR up to 33% of project costs for experimental development projects.  

Under this regulation, salary is calculated based on a fixed hourly rate of 750 Danish krone per hour including overhead costs. Other costs are calculated as actual costs without overhead.  

Danish funding body, Innovation Fund Denmark (IFD), funds R&D costs for large companies and GTS institutions participating in our Eurostars programme.  

For large companies, IFD covers up to 65% of industrial research project costs in grants OR up to 40% of experimental project costs in grants. This amount covers actual costs and a maximum salary of 1,000 Danish krone per hour.  

For GTS institutions, IFD covers up to 60% of industrial research project costs in grants OR between 40-60% of experimental project costs in grants. This amount covers actual costs and a maximum salary of 1,000 Danish krone per hour. 

The maximum funding amount is a grant of 300,000 euro per project OR a grant of 500,000 euro for projects with more than one Danish participant. 

If you are a Danish large company or GTS institution participating in a Eurostars project without a Danish SME, your funding rate will be halved.

Danish funding body, Innovation Fund Denmark (IFD), funds R&D costs for universities, public hospitals and research organisations participating in our Eurostars programme.  

As a Danish university, you could receive a grant covering up to 90% of project costs AND a grant covering up to 44% in overhead.  

As a Danish public hospital, you could receive a grant covering up to 90% of project costs AND a grant covering up to 3.1% in overhead.  

And as a Danish research organisation (or other public organisation), you could receive a grant covering up to 90% of project costs.  

The maximum funding amount is a grant of 300,000 euro per project OR a grant of 500,000 euro for projects with more than one Danish participant. 

If you are a Danish university, public hospital or research organisation participating in a Eurostars project without a Danish SME, your funding rate will be halved.
