The EU Partnership on Innovative SMEs / Eurostars funding information for Germany

Germany currently has no allocated budget for organisations participating in the next EU Partnership on Innovative SMEs / Eurostars call for projects (deadline 15 September 2022). If you are a German organisation wanting to participate in a EU Partnership on Innovative SMEs / Eurostars consortium, contact your national funding body to see whether there are other funding opportunities available or talk to them about self-funding.

The German funding body for EU Partnership on Innovative SMEs / Eurostars is the Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF). The contact point for Eurostars in Germany is hosted by the DLR Project Management Agency.

Germany funds R&D costs for SMEs participating in our EU Partnership on Innovative SMEs / Eurostars programme.

As a German SME, you can receive a grant covering up to 50% of your eligible project costs.

The maximum funding amount is a grant of 500,000 euro for all German partners per project.

Only R&D activities until Technology Readiness Level 6 are eligible for funding.

Clinical trials will not be funded.

SMEs must submit the latest financial report together with the EU Partnership on Innovative SMEs / Eurostars applications. Companies that are unable to provide a financial report (e.g. start-ups) must submit a business plan and a financing plan for their own contribution to the project.

National applications must be submitted within two weeks of being requested by the DLR. This request will be sent out after your application has received a positive evaluation and if funding for your project has been secured.

Large companies may participate in a EU Partnership on Innovative SMEs / Eurostars project, but they are not eligible for EU Partnership on Innovative SMEs / Eurostars funding in Germany. If they want to participate they have to submit a self-funding declaration.

In this case universities and research organisations can receive up to 100% of the eligible project costs in grants.

The maximum funding amount is a grant of 500,000 euro for all German partners per project.
