Eureka funding description:

Funding in Hungary

In Hungary, there is a special support programme that co-finances the Hungarian EUREKA project participants, including cluster project participants.

The Hungarian EUREKA Programme has a special budget of ca. 1,5 million euro for 2019. In order to ensure the flexibility needed for starting an international cooperation project, the proposals can be submitted continuously with 2 cut-off dates/year.

The application is accepted also in case of EUREKA project proposals and not only with endorsed projects, however, but the contracts will also be concluded with the National Research, Development, and Innovation Office as Funding Agency only if the project gets the EUREKA label.

The evaluation procedure lasts 2-3 months with the involvement of independent technical and economic experts.

In the support programme application of SMEs, large companies, universities, and research institutions are accepted. Public research institutes and universities are eligible for funding only if they have a Hungarian profit-oriented business company in the consortium.

About this country

In May 1992, Hungary was the first country from the Central Eastern Europe region to be admitted to EUREKA.

Since becoming a member of the initiative, more than 50 EUREKA projects have been successfully finished with Hungarian participation. The projects cover a wide range of technology fields from ICT to biotechnology.

The Hungarian EUREKA Office provides applicants with information on the EUREKA initiative and Eurostars and the funding programmes which support Hungarian participation in EUREKA and Eurostars. We regularly organise information days and workshops and also offer consulting and partner-search services.

The Hungarian EUREKA Office is operated by the National Research, Development and Innovation Office which is the main funding body for applied research in Hungary in all areas of science and technology.
