Eurostars funding information in Portugal
Eurostars is part of the European Partnership on Innovative SMEs. The partnership is co-funded by the European Union through Horizon Europe.
Portuguese funding body, the Agência Nacional de Inovação (ANI), funds R&D costs for SMEs participating in our Eurostars programme.
ANI covers from 45-80% of project costs for micro and small companies and from 35-75% for medium sized companies.
The exact funding percentage depends on consortium collaboration, dissemination of project results and whether your project activities fall into the category of industrial research or experimental development.
Your project must fall within national or regional Research and Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialisation priority areas.
To be eligible for funding, projects must involve at least one Portuguese company. When in consortium with other Portuguese research organizations or Universities, Portuguese companies must undertake the most relevant share of the investment.
Annexes to submit with the Eurostars application form in the section “Your organisation”
Every participant must submit the two latest financial reports (balance sheet and income statement) together with the Eurostars application. Companies can upload their IES (Informação Empresarial Simplificada).
These documents are confidential and cannot be seen by the other partners.

ANI covers 75% of project costs for universities or research organisations OR the weighted average of the participating companies' funding percentages (if higher than 75%), provided the companies are not receiving indirect State Aid.
Portuguese universities and research organisations must have a Portuguese company in your consortium to be eligible to receive funding.
Your project must fall within national or regional Research and Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialisation priority areas.
