Since 9/11, heavy emphasis has been placed on safety of infrastructures. This project will develop a monitoring system that covers the entire infrastructure, is embedded in a decision support system, and offers a platform for extension.
The project will focus on testing natural serbian and croatian zeolites for their use in the removal of toxic zinc, chromium, copper and arsenic from waste and drinking water. The performance of natural zeolites and synthetic zeolite a produced in slovenia will be compared.
To develop an innovative, low-cost and robust technique to remove arsenic from drinking water. This objective is to be achieved by integrating two complementary innovations: 1) subsurface arsenic removal. 2) arsenic filtration with adsorption of arsenic onto iron oxide coated sand.
