Research and development of dairy farm precision management system

The aim of the project is research and development of dairy farm precision management system. This system is based on 5 keys which help manage a dairy farm: people, genetics, nutrition, comfort, economy.

The Project key objective is the research and development of a dairy farm operation management system. The system will monitor the situation on a farm on a daily basis and the people working with the data in the program will be able to adjust the process to achieve maximum operation efficiency optimization (reduce cost, improve quality and increase production). There are approx. 10,000 dairy farms in the post-Soviet countries but their milk production efficiency is very low. The Project Researcher has vast experience with dairy farm management and with SW tool development for farming operation optimization and it is currently working with 10 farms on this market. Future substantial expansion to other farms is expected. Our competitors do not offer complex solutions and they have no experience with the specific situation on this market. We want to sell operation management and optimization system to dairy farms on the Russian market. The calculated annual price for operation and maintenance will be EUR 22,800 per farm which is an acceptable price for this market. The objective is to acquire at least 40 farms and create total cumulative sales of EUR 3,078,000 within 5 years after the Project completion. The farming processes are influenced by the workforce quality, weather, comfort, place where animals are kept and especially by the quality of feed used on a daily basis. Quality of feed changes very often and a fundamental issue on dairy farms comes into question here - cattle is a ruminant with digestion different from that of poultry, pigs, human ... it has two basic levels. One level is that cattle digest food using microorganisms in the rumen, they are able to process large amounts of forage, which is very positive, on the other hand, the negative part is that any sudden change or a change in feeding influences the function of microorganisms in the rumen which results in substantial reduction of efficiency because it takes 2-3 weeks for the microflora to get used to the new feed and the drop is drastic. Any correction is very slow and gradual. We will get online information using our program and we will be able to "predict the future" to eliminate efficiency drops. If the animal genetic potential is good, the cows may have up to 50, 60 or even 70 litres of milk at a regular commercial farm. However, the efficiency may also be 5-10 litres. Fixed cost is the same, with 10 or 50 litres of milk and only the highly efficient cow may be economical. The technical challenge of the Project will consist in creating a mathematical model of farming operation data correlation. This mathematical model will enable to manage the farm in order to eliminate any losses and the information system will at the same time ensure compliance with the process discipline. It is important that the information system is comfortable for future users A clear projection of farming operation economic data will help the customer comply with the process discipline. The Project procedure will be as follows: 1) Analysis of data from existing clients, division of the data and their evaluation 2) Use of the data to create the program – detailing of individual parts –analysis of data from GENOSERVICE Corp, B2C Support s.r.o., Agroban s.r.o. 3) Compilation of a herd management information system 4) Application at clients 5) Operation at new clients, marketing GENOSERVICE Corp a.s. will analyze data acquired from our existing clients and evaluate them effectively. The Agroban s.r.o. have a large amount of data from their own activities (working on a dairy cattle farm, with agricultural processes etc.) B2C Support s.r.o. have data from different fields and activities concerning IT solutions. We will analyze data and use the experience of our workers who work in the area of dairy farm management to compile an overall picture of the individual subsystems on a farm, e.g. feeding management, daily operation and reproduction. The data processed and evaluated for a day-to-day dairy farm management with a 5K information system will be used to enable the system to evaluate individual areas on a farm. The information system will evaluate processes on a farm in the area of feeding, genetics, economy and health, it means that we can introduce actions online to improve the farming operation. An agricultural advisor will visit the farm and feed back information on the actual condition of the farm. However, such data will be acquired with a delay because an agricultural advisor will not be present on a farm all the time.
