Cloud solution applied to virtual reality (vr) based in rendering and cloud computing and the provision of real time.

The project cloud vr aims to develop a cloud-based virtual reality (vr) streaming platform, and a stand-alone vr/ar (mixed reality) hdm device and its peripheral controllers.

Currently, there is a growing trend in all matters concerning virtual reality, as it is considered as the next big area of technological development and, therefore, the immediate economic niche in which large companies are already focusing their investment and research efforts. Large multinational companies like Google, Apple, Facebook, Microsoft, LG, Samsung or HTC among others, are already placing their research and development efforts in this area concerned. But the main problem these companies are facing when launching their products and / or prototypes, lies in the enormous computing power needed to move all the specifications demanded by an application/service of virtual reality . In fact, existing products currently produced, in many cases, dizziness on users due to this inefficiency in data processing. For this reason, the state of the art in the field of virtual reality, demands powerful computers and graphic cards, with the high cost that this entails, and on top of that, the devices that are being launched on the market (glasses or HMD - Head-Mounted Display) are connected by cable to the computer, with the obvious limitation of mobility for the user, greatly diminishing the user experience. PlayGiga has identified these obstacles and the opportunity it represents for the company. That being said, PlayGiga has the following competitive advantages: - All data processing is done in the cloud. It is not necessary to have the virtual reality goggles connected by cable, as a service to live streaming real-time glasses will be provided. - The organization currently has some farms powerful computers in terms of calculation to service its GaaS platform (Game as a Service), which implies a very high processing capacity perfectly applicable to virtual reality, as specifications are very similar for both worlds, gaming and virtual reality. - Real-time display. Collaboration with Aksys (partner in this project) to design a self-contained VR glasses. The Cloud VR project will be developed by PlayGiga in partnership with the Korean company Aksys, and this project will consist of: 1. The development of a Cloud-based solution applied to virtual reality applications and services, based on the software modeling and rendering (cloud based). 2. Provision of streaming of the VR content in real time, using self-contained glasses (HMD), which includes an optimized client (input capture, decoding capability and real-time low latency) with the aim of increasing levels of immersion and interaction. 3. This project seeks to develop a complete technology platform (self-contained -HMD- glasses, resident client module and server module glasses in the cloud, which will provide the computing power necessary for the rendering and its codification in TR), targeting the entertainment industry and professional sectors, capable of offering solutions in the form of "service" (as a service) to users around the world through VR glasses. It will also allow to offer open solutions that will allow to create, around this platform, an industry that enriches both an immersive and interactive environment. Regarding the targeted market, the company will focus on known sectors and will investigate new areas of application: • Residential Segment: VR Games (Educational Games, 3rd age - eHealth).
