Swear - the development of functional products with the ability of cooling

Within the project we will introduce functional product (protective clothing) with cooling capabilities. Solution will integrate thermoregulative function and monitoring of users vital life functions into one protective smart garment system that is pre-designed to be used by specific target groups.

Within this project application we introduce an innovative and disruptive solution - functional product (protective clothing) with cooling capabilities. Solution integrates termoregulative function and monitoring of users vital life functions into one protective smart garment system that is pre-designed to be used by specific target groups. Depending on the target group, the personal protective garment varies according to the standards in accordance with which it must be produced. Innovativeness in the area of textile engineering focuses on technology for integration of various functional materials, which will provide permanent protection against the environmental influences and at the same cool the user. The product represents the upgrade of existing personal protective clothing, which must be used accordingly with the regulations for protection of the workers when they work and live in the extremely hot environments. Proposed product is innovative since there is no such optimal solution for cooling the worker down and monitoring the vital life functions that would efficiently integrate IT (sensors) with various textile materials included in the protective clothings. It is the first product in the market that integrates ICT innovative solutions, advanced materials and advanced manufacturing and processing. By integrating various textile layers, sensors and handling advanced protocols, our product will enable sensing, communication, warning, protection and remote control in dependence with the end user needs and requirements in order to increase workers protection and upsurge the users’ working ability. Furthermore, by monitoring user’s vital life functions, environmental parameters and analysis of observed data, the product will enable the prevention of undesired events, i.e. injuries due to overheating and consequently heart dysfunction (one of the most frequent and unwanted complex injuries of workers that are exposed to hot working environment). One of the crucial advantages of our product will be the ease of use, since working clothes must not in any way impede (e.g. by adding too much weight) or interfere with workers mobility (that would have negative impact on worker’s productivity). The modularity of the product structure will enable individual production of its specific parts (e.g. cooling pads, specific vital sensors etc.) so the possibilities for new solutions by modifying the proposed structure are almost unlimited. The main objective is to develop, manufacture and commercialise innovative modular smart garments with cooling capabilities, with high level of innovative solutions for human protection in extremely hot environments. Its modularity will enable sensing, communication, warning, protection and remote control depending on the end user needs and requirements. Expected outcome of the project is innovative modular smart working garments with cooling capabilities, based on innovative technologies, which include ICT innovative solutions, advanced materials (as combined from textiles and sensors) and advanced manufacturing and processing (with adopted manufacturing equipment for such production). End users of the products are workers who on the long term perform their work in extremely hot environments. These are soldiers, firefighters, paramedics, foundry workers and miners. Buyers are military and paramilitary/private institutions, firefighting associations and societies, public and private health institutions, relevant and competent ministries, foundries and mining-related organizations. Main benefits for end-users are the following : - higher level of safety while working (preventing accidents is IT supported) - thermal balance inside working garments with integrated segmental pads for human cooling - real time data on measured vital parameters of workers - workers are alarmed in case of emergency - working process is more efficient (due to predefined care protocol etc) - real time data on micro environmental temperatures - ergonomic comfort within all layers of the protective garment system - product doesn’t impede or interfere with workers mobility (it operates as a “second skin”) - short time to preparation before use (easy handling, simple wearing etc.) - integrated IT solutions are robust.
