Programming robot automation for custom prosthetics and orthotics carving

The custom prosthetics and orthotics market needs powerful and easy to use automation tools. Now robot carving machines are entering into this market and are complicated to program. The goal of this project is to not only make them easy to program but to do so in an automatic way.

Vorum is the world leader in CAD/CAM solutions for the custom prosthetics and orthotics market. It offers end-to-end solutions, including 3D scanners, domain specific CAD software and CNC carving machines. Tecnocim has been the Mastercam distributor in Spain since 1988. Focused not only in selling and providing the after sale service, Tecnocim also customizes the Mastercam software for individual customer needs. This often involves automating repetitive tasks. The goal of the project is to automate the process of programming the robotic carving of complex prosthetic and orthotics shapes such that a) the customer does not need CAD/CAM skills and b) and the programming process is greatly sped up (time should be reduced from 40 minutes to less than 10 seconds).
