New natural bioingredients for safe personal care products / cosmetics

The aim of this project is to develop natural bioingredients from brewing, wine/grapes yeasts biomass enriched in vitamin b (biotin), glucans and from collagen hydrolysates or solutions and silica from rice husk for processing safe cosmetics, improving thus the health and life quality of people.

The project belongs to the research field of biotechnologies, with research target in the development of new natural bioingredients and of personal care products/cosmetics with establishing of new cosmetic formulas based on the obtained bioingredients. Achieving the objective of the project is supported by the multidisciplinary of both Romanian and Korean partners involved in this project, having the requested qualification proved by the professional prestige, patents, published papers, involvement in national and international projects, and also managerial abilities. The project is an innovative project for development of new products and technologies. The structure of the consortium for fulfilling the purposed subject consists in: EMINVEST PHARMACEUTICALS SRL (private company in pharmaceutical, cosmetic, medical devices, biocides field), S.C. PHARMACORP INNOVATION SRL (private research company in biotechnology field), The National Research and Development Institute for Textile and Leather (INCDTP) – Division Leather and Footwear Research Institute (ICPI) (protein processing especially from animal hide), SugarEn Co. (Private company for synthesizing biosilica at pilot scale) and Korea Institute of Ceramic Engineering and Technology (Developing core technique for synthesizing silica from rice husk). The project aims to exploit innovative products through new bioingredients obtained by new technologies with the target for cosmetic industry. The main objectives of the project are: - one of the project’s novelties consists in obtaining bioingredients based on brewing, yeast biomass with high content of biotin and other B vitamins, proteins and wine/grapes Saccharomyces yeast and non Saccharomyces yeast biomasses with a high value concerning flavor and coloring and rich in glucans, or consortium of yeasts for biomass obtaining. These two elements from the yeast could be used for an anti-aging cream. - To obtain collagen extracts (hydrolysates and solutions) using retinoic acid (A vitamin) or salicylic acid instead of tradition acid used so far (hydrochloric acid, acetic acid, tartaric acid) in technology of collagen obtaining; -To obtain biosilica from rice husks; - To obtain plant extracts with high antioxidant activity; - To produce new formulas as antioxidant and protective products (body cream / lotion, hand cream, cream / mask / lotion for face, protective and antioxidant sun protection cream, anti-aging cream and creams for acne prone skin) for the cosmetic industry. The project proposes innovative technological solutions for cosmetic industry based on new ingredients such as: -yeast brewing biomass rich in complex of vitamin B; new wine/grapes Saccharomyces yeast biomass and non Saccharomyces yeast biomass rich in glucans and/or consortium of these yeasts (wine and brewing) for new biomasses; Yeast cell walls are natural components derived from yeasts Saccharomyces cerevisiae or Torula. The cell wall itself is mainly composed of glucans, mannoproteins and proteins. - silica from rice husk, which has high purity and optimum size with sphere shape - new collagen extracts rich in A vitamin and salicylic acid The project will investigate the effect of the new combinations of ingredients mentioned above to produce innovative cosmetic formulas which will be clinical tested. Standard / product sheets for ingredients will be elaborated by the consortium and their registration in INCI directory will be carried on. The product prospects and information file will be elaborated in order to notify the products at Cosmetic Products Notification Portal for commercialization on the market. The innovative ingredients and new formulas will be patented separately by each entity. We will attract commercial interest in the cosmetic industry because of both new natural bioingredients and the flavour and the fragrance.
