Global connect - improved connectivity for cargo tracking

We will develop a platform 'global connect' that makes sea container tracking more reliable and cost effective with unique and innovative technology from innotel and paradigma. The result will be used to test the tracking of containers from the largest container leasing company seaco global.

After consulting several companies in the logistics and fleet management industry, we conclude that users are dissatisfied with the current connectivity solutions. The high costs of mobile data and SMS usage and the low reliability when roaming are felt to be problematic. This provided the incentive to develop this unique communication platform Global Connect with InnoTels innovation TMS (Travelling Messaging) and Paradigma innovation ABC Routing and blockchain technology. Global Connect project intend to begin scaling a network of shippers, freight forwarders, ocean carriers, ports and customs authorities. This is intend to be the next generation of a PaaS that makes sea container real-time tracking more reliable and cost efficient, by innovative technologies for transmitting GPS locations to sea container and customer data. Our new way of sending tracking data to a central location with no use of traditional communication will be fully functional with implementation of algorithms that will execute predefined commands using phone calls in the opposite direction, i.e“give me information about the temperature status, container position”. The project goal is to develop Global Connect communication platform with the innovation TMS and ABC Routing which decrease the cost and increase the reliable of the connectivity and in the future could be an API to be used for all fleet management platforms on the market. To test the complete solution and obtain indicators of performance, a pilot project will be executed jointly with SEACO Global (one of the biggest container company in the world with 2.3 million leasing containers) in one of the container carried by one of their ships. After finishing the project, a ready-to-sell version of the Global Connect (PaaS) will be available, including: • An API to different Fleet Management systems • An onboard (GPS/GSM/3G hardware)) device with Global Connects software (i.e. a device that communicates with the container such as: location and temperature); • A TMS protocol integrated in the Global Connect to make ‘dataless’ communication possible; • Data communication between the on-board device and the ABC routing module which could optimized communication via several communication protocols (i.e. TMS, GPRS, 3G, SMS); • The Container Tracking Service (CTS) will receive and register the messages of that state of the container, GPS location and other sensor data in a block of information using Blockchain technology. The characteristics of Blockchain are good for big networks of different business partners. Example: A container is abroad where roaming, sending data over GPRS, 3G and 4G, is very expensive. Global Connect ABC Router then switches to the cheapest form of communication available with TMS. It will call, from a predefined list of fixed numbers, to one of these numbers without establishing an actual connection. Each of these numbers is linked to a specific message. For example, the number +461000011 corresponds with the information that temperature is 11 degree Celsius. Although no actual connection is established, the client, just by the fact that a specific number has been called, obtains valuable information. Yet no costs are involved at all. Obviously, this way of “communicating in code”, limits the type of information that can be communicated.
