Pulsatory forming of metal materials

Investigation into pulsatory forming technology including
generator of pulses development and description of the
influence of pulses on material will be provided. This
technology will be applied to industrial production.

Many experiments have been done in the past few years to try to increase the plasticity of materials. The high deformation rate combined with special conditions is one possibility of how to increase plasticity, in any case how to reach superplasticity. In real conditions the technology with a very high deformation rate is not easily accessible, sometimes it is possible to avoid this problem through so-called pulsatory forming. Pulsatory forming technology is reached through impulses generated in the presses' hydraulic system. These impulses of a particular frequency cause repeated stress, which is applied on the formed piece. Through a change in frequency and amplitude of impulses, large condition variability can be achieved. If the amplitude is large enough, the short time during the heavy increase in force subjects the material to similar conditions such as a high deformation rate. Being on the top of force amplitude, the plasticity of the material improves considerably and on average the deformational force decreases. This effect depends strongly on the material's structure. The next positive effect during pulsatory forming is a considerable reduction in friction due to repeated reducing of stress on the die surface. Increasing plasticity through pulsatory forming can be successfully utilized in all the forming temperature ranges stated above. In general it enables larger pieces to be formed using equipment of the same power. Keywords: pulsatory forming, stress.
