Chrome tanning salts substitutes

Development of method of obtaining quality leather for
various users which eliminates or reduces to a minimum the
quantity of chrome at present required. Consequential
improved environmental impact

Selection of a process able to give a suitable leather for every known finished article by several steps of: - raw skins pre-treatment in order to activate collagen reactivity, - tannage with an agent other than chromium and environmentally safe. The project selected the optimum products to attain these functions and afterwards, the optimal conditions to apply them. Once the basic schemes of the process was defined, semi-industrial and industrial scale trials were carried out in order to introduce the system in normal manufacture equipment.
