Programmable peristaltic dosage pump for time-dependent dosage in fermentation processes

The goal is to develop a programmable dosage control block
based on a peristaltic pump. The control block can ensure
the time-dependent dosage of a nutritive medium for
fermenting microorganisms.

The project goal is to develop a programmable dosage control block, based on the 'Cole-Parmer' peristaltic pump. The control block can ensure the time-dependent dosage of nutritive medium for fermenting microorganisms. Such a device is used in fermentation processes e.g. submerge cultivation of useful microorganisms. The dosage block will be designed taking into account the specific demands of its exploitation in biotechnology: 1) user-friendly adjustability of time-dependent production processes 2) possibility to change the profile of the processes during fermentation of the nutritive medium 3) the possibility to stop or interrupt the fermentation processes. The developed algorithms will also be realised in a Bioprocess controller, which is based on a Basic programmable microprocessor. In such way the integration of automatic dosage in microorganism cultivation general control will be assured. By using the developed dosage control optimization of the fermentation processes will be carried out. Keywords: dosage, fermentation, process control.
