Deep mooring

The aim is to develop a new deepwater mooring system based
on synthetic ropes that is suitable for the mooring of
third generation, semi-submersible platforms within depth
ranges of 500 to 2,500 metres.

The aim of this project is to develop a totally new anchoring system, specially suitable for the mooring of semi-submersible platforms in a new depth range (500 - 2,500 m.). With the successful completion of this project it will be possible to use the semi-submersible platforms for the exploitation of deep fields, as currently these platforms can only be used in relatively shallow waters (up to about 500 m.). The companies have joined forces to accomplish the envisaged goals. VRYHOF ANCHORS B.V. is a specialist in mooring and anchors and BEXCO N.V./S.A. is specialised in synthetic rope development and production. The two partners will combine their knowledge in this project to develop a new product for the offshore market. Keywords: ultradeep, synthetic, mooring.
