Micro nano technology use by sme's

The main objective is to provide scientific and technological support, and general technical assistance to european smes wishing to integrate micro and nano technology into their products. Non-european countries will also be made aware of minatuse activities.

In the coming years, micro and nano technologies appear as the major technological challenge of the European industrial sector and will require very ambitious RTD (Research and Technological Development) programmes and the mobilisation of massive resources (human, financial, etc.). In order to eventually ensure maximum return on investment for European industrial players, the transfer of RTD results towards SMEs will need to be done in a very professional and efficient way. The goal of the MINATUSE project is to provide the right conditions for such activities on a European scale. MINATUSE will benefit from past European NESSI+ and MINATEC experience as well as from an operational network of European qualified partners already nationally involved in carrying out technical support and general guidance missions to SMEs, including: - Information seminars on new technologies such as electronics, Microsystems, wireless communication, functional safety, etc. - Technological project guidance and assistance to provide technical solutions for new SME industrial product development. Thus, the MINATUSE project will carry out European added value missions mostly targeting SMEs and focusing on: - Scientific and technological guidance to ease SME assimilation of micro and nano technologies, - Dissemination towards SMEs of European RTD results in the field of electronics, - General assistance to SMEs to encourage their participation in European RTD projects related to their scientific and technological needs (EUREKA, FP6 (Framework Programme)), - Sharing of experience, expertise and tools between MINATUSE European partners, benchmarking and preparation of common materials (websites, seminars, leaflets, etc.), - Identification and dissemination of good practices from MINATUSE European partners towards prospective institutional partners. The European partners of the MINATUSE project will either belong to: - Professional/industrial organisations and associations whose main activities are dedicated to the transfer and dissemination of advanced electronics to SMEs. Those structures in daily contact with SMEs will contribute to ensure that the main objectives of MINATUSE meet the real and current general technological needs of SMEs and their product development projects; - RTD providers recognised as European scientific and technological centres of excellence in micro and nano technologies. Strongly involved in European RTD projects dealing with MINATUSE technical areas, they will share their expertise and latest scientific and technological achievements with SMEs. They will meet the SMEs' needs and expectations regarding the integration of micro and nano technologies into their products. In collaboration with the professional organisations, the RTD providers will also encourage and facilitate the participation of SMEs in European RTD projects (EUREKA, FP6). The following are among the realistic and expected quantified achievements of MINATUSE: - Improvement in the competitiveness of European SMEs thanks to increased scientific and technological knowledge and enhanced product development opportunities, - Increased participation of European SMEs in ambitious RTD projects (EUREKA, FP6), - Enhanced knowledge and expertise of European scientific and technological centres of excellence in micro and nano technologies through complementary aspects and synergies, - General increase in dissemination of scientific and technological information related to micro and nano technologies towards SMEs and other professional actors, - Increased European activities in the transfer of technologies through the MINATUSE sector or technological approach.
