Prospects for construction techniques
Creation of an industrialized urban infrastructure
applicable on an identified site using building techniques
for the years 2000 to 2020
Nature:
Development and completion of a new concept of urban
infrastructures that will take into account the broad
guiding principles of civil engineering techniques for the
next century from economic technological and environmental
points of view. The project encompasses all the
development phases (specifications; product design, the
various technologies) and the mass production of the I.U.I.
(manufacturing requirements, used technology, manufacturing
process, trial run of production).
Particular interest:
These structures placed under road will house the various
networks (water, electricity, gas, telecommunications,
etc.). With the I.U.I. a 100 year old dream will then come
true: the gathering of all the urban networks in one
single place with simple and quick access and no need to
demolish and durably damage roads and pavements. This new
product will upgrade the reliability and safety of the
networks and their environment since it can be
industrialised. Besides, as it is initially designed to
contain an automatic monitoring system, it will allow the
use of modern technologies such as sensors,
computerization, tele-operation and robotics for operating
the urban networks. Through the use of these sophisticated
technologies, the I.U.I. product is part of the general
concept of "urbanitics" and thus helps to better control
the management and the operation of a city vital unit i.e.
the networks conveying fluids, energy and communications.
