Sla for mobile business services

Movenda and giant steps are interested in the development of a product for managing slas of mobile business services. The requirement for the product was raised by italian and israeli operators.

The project stems from generic requests from mobile operators and content providers whose main needs are to test their network infrastructures and test customer satisfaction with the service usability. These operators require an application that will manage customer experiences for SMS-based (Short Messaging Service) and MMS-based (Multimedia Messaging System) periodic services (e.g. requesting daily SMS updates on business technology news). Their main problem is to find an automated way of simulating a real person activity while using their services. The simulation should be based on the usage of real GSM/GPRS/UMTS (Global Standard for Mobiles / General Packet Radio Service / Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) terminals controlled by an application that should be able to behave as closely as possible to human behaviour. This is why it is not enough to simply send and receive SMS, MMS and make phone calls. It is also important to start from market data and statistical information to simulate users as closely as possible. The project is structured into 3 phases: * Phase 1 – In-depth market research for defining the operator and content provider needs. In this phase we will involve our customers when defining an application that best suits their needs. It is purely a research phase, but is characterised by significant effort in defining an intelligent algorithm. * Phase 2 - Technical realisation of the application. This phase represents the technical realisation of the application defined in phase 1. The result will be an application that will expose a graphical user interface. The interface will be used by the operators and content providers to manage the testing of their services and will make use of the specification made in phase 1. The results of the tests will be useful for testing service SLAs (Service Level Agreements) and will give statistical information about the service usage quality. It will be easy to use and flexible at the same time, in order to adapt to the fast changing market. * Phase 3 - Technical implementation at a customer's premises This phase will include implementation of the new application at the premises of MOVENDA's customers in ITALY.
