Intelligent system for monitoring of distributed manufacturing processes

A software package for monitoring of manufacturing processes will be developed. It will be used as "software as service" on the internet. The product will use artificial intelligence for improvement of planning processes, and cognitive graphics for visualisation. It will be used mostly in smes.

The main aim of the project is to develop a software product which will support manufacturing companies in planning and monitoring of manufacturing processes using advanced Internet technologies. The product could be used by companies which have a distributed production - manufacturing process is running on physically separated locations, or are small and do not need to organize their own hardware centre but could use a remote server on which the software package will be running. At a time of globalisation, when competition is coming from practically everywhere, the strict planning and monitoring of a manufacturing process has become crucial for the success of any company on a global market. At the same time, environmental problems, especially global warming will generate new restrictions on manufacturing processes (carbon dioxide footprint). And the present financial crisis will penetrate the real economy, so that exact and precise information about manufacturing processes will be necessary at all stages of the process (planning, production, maintenance) to reduce costs and remain on the market. The solutions of manufacturing information systems offered by vendors are complicated, expensive and time-consuming to implement. Usually they are customised for large companies, demanding strong hardware and solid human resources support, so do not satisfy the needs of small and medium sized companies (SMEs). At the same time, there are modern technologies which provide a basis for the development of efficient manufacturing information systems which will not require huge hardware and human resources and will be affordable for SMEs. In the proposed project, the project information system for the distributed manufacturing process will be developed, tested and implemented. The final product will be multilingual and user friendly, and the user will need only a connection to the Internet. The project will be realized in following stages: - user analysis; - conceptualisation of process; - software requirements specification; - development of modules; - testing of modules; - integration of modules; - testing of integrated system; - implementation of system; - preparation of user documentation; - promotion and marketing of product. The multilingual website for communication between partners and promotion and marketing of the product will be developed at the start of the project and maintained during the project.
