The proposed project, with duration of 60 Weeks, focuses on the development of the simple and cheap wireless keypad for home security and control systems. A custom mixed signal Integrated Circuit that, once activated and properly instructed by the main system processor, converts to high quality sound, a standard-digitally-formatted sequence of audio tones and/or pre-registered voice messages that are resident into a standard semiconductor memory. The unique feature of this monolithic and fully integrated audio co-processor system is the combination of: 1) the quality vs. the power of the sound: today’s customers are habit to hear from their own wireless systems a state-of-the-art sound quality without compromises, 2) the flexibility of the system: that can hosts upto several minutes of high quality rings, tones and pre-registered human messages, 3) the standardization of the IC commands: target the IC to be used with all kind of microprocessors available in the market 4) the extreme low power consumption: that enable the IC to be used on strategic wireless devices were the battery life is the key element of the product success, The combination of such features enables the IC to boost the innovation and the market-attractiveness of application-specific ultra low power wireless devices that are today unable to sustain the power needs of standard high quality sounds devices. The collaboration between Crow and Canova Tech creates an exclusive centre of competence, in the area of Semiconductors Products for Security Systems that’s based on: - The leadership of CROW in the Security Market, - The expertise of Canova Tech in developing successful mixed signal semiconductor products, Such R&D synergy enable the development and timely drive to the market an innovative Security-Specific wireless keyboard based on an Application-Specific Integrated Circuit. During the proposed project the companies will jointly develop PA-ADPCM-D, as follows: Crow will develop: • The main requirements of the IC from a system point of view, the translation of the main requirements of the IC into a viable IC block diagram and a complete IC Design Specifications, design the Technichal Requerement Document of Keypad which will be include the PA-ADPCM-D chip, design the Communication protocol between PA-ADPCM-D chip and keypad host processor.; • Keypad Engineering Evaluation process performing; • System Test perfoming; • Keypad Cetification process (EN and UL) performing; • the test requirements of the IC for both system and production point of view, • the complete IC test concept (test specifications) and all necessary hardware and software tools required to completely validate and qualify the IC from a volume manufacturing point of view, • the complete system test concept (system test specifications) and all necessary hardware and software tools required to completely validate and qualify the IC for the target market segment, Canova tech will develop Audio power amplifier with Tone generator support: • The feasibility study of the IC that’s conform to the main system requirements and IC Design Specifications, • The complete IC by means of the work of experts and professional engineers that, with the help of dedicated EDA software, design, simulate and manage the physical layout of mixed signal semiconductor products. • The interface with the IC manufacturing plant, In order to address the state of the art challenges in the power consumption of the CTXXXX, Canova Tech intend to involve, in the feasibility phase, the Biophysical and Electronic Engineering Department of the University of Genova (http://www.dibe.unige.it). Upon project's completion On August 2010 the product will include the Home Security and Control system which include wireless detectors, keypads and Control System with Central Station via Internet Product Description: CTXXXX chip implements an audio power amplifier with an ADPCM 16bit@48KHz digital to analog converter. The CTXXXX is part of a wireless keyboard mainly for security applications.
